All investigations "Inconclusive", justice for Rudiger happening soon?

After Antonio Rudiger along with the club captain Cesar Azpilicueta and head coach, Frank Lampard demanded strict action against racist chants on the German, Tottenham insist that they are “exhaustively investigating” his claims, including the employment of lip-readers.

Rudiger told the Chelsea club captain, Cesar Azpilicueta that he was subjected to racist chants during their 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. Referee Anthony Taylor called for an announcement to be made over the stadium’s public address system to warn the fans.

Spurs issued a statement on Monday, which said,” We are able to track every fan via the cameras and have spent many hours reviewing CCTV footage. We have engaged lip-readers to study the footage and contacted Chelsea for further information from their players.”

“We have also taken statements from other parties present at the time. The police will be reviewing our evidence alongside us. Please be assured we shall be exhaustively investigating this matter.” The club statement also said that they have a proud and successful track of anti-racism campaigns across all their communities and they are determined to ensure that they will conduct a strict inquiry.

In this process, any fan found guilty will be given a lifetime ban. The club also said that the findings are inconclusive and requested Chelsea to keep the comments reserved until the facts were established. 

Spurs also said that the confusion started with Anthony Taylor, who implemented UEFA anti-discrimination protocols, rather than those outlined by the Premier League. 

When asked to check with the higher authorities, Taylor took the decision to call for the implementation of stage one of the UEFA protocol rather than the one told by the Premier League.

How the Premier League and the UEFA protocol differ is that the Premier League does not call for an announcement. The number of people involved are usually dealt with by the Safety Team in the first instance.

From now on an appeal has been made to clarify the position regarding the use of these protocols to all stakeholders going forward, the statement concluded.
