Arsenal closing in on a move for French wonderkid
Premier League giants Arsenal are closing in on a £5 million move for promising Le Havre midfielder Pape Gueye, according to reports in France. The highly-rated midfielder is available on a bargain price given his contract expires in 2021 and the 21-year-old also dropped a subtle hint on Instagram.
The Frenchman commented a photo of his compatriot, Matteo Guendouzi.
The latter is known to have regularly messaged his compatriot William Saliba before his Emirates switch last summer.
This has led to fans calling the midfielder, 'Agent Guendouzi'.
Gueye commented on a picture of his fellow Frenchman Guendouzi training and alongside the tornado emoji wrote: "Guendouzzzz!"
Le Havre currently play in France's Ligue 2 but Gueye has managed to grab the headlines on a weekly basis. The 21-year-old has been watched by some of the best clubs around Europe and Arsenal are believed to be leading the race.
The Frenchman has been likened to French international midfielders N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba and has been dubbed as a mixture of the two.
According to reports in France, the North Londoners are on the verge of finalising a deal for the 21-year-old. The Gunners, however, could face competition from Sevilla, Udinese and Fiorentina who are also said to be interested in the highly-rated youngster.
Arsenal fans could see another midfielder join their ranks this summer after reports emerged suggesting they are lining up a move for their former star midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The Welshman joined Serie A champions Juventus on a free transfer last summer after 11 years at the Emirates. Despite penning a contract until 2023 worth around £400,000-a-week, the Welshman has struggled for opportunities to impress Maurizio Sarri.
Juventus are believed to be keen on landing a profit on the flop who cost them nothing when they signed him last summer.
