Arsenal back to winning ways with win over West Ham

Arsenal came back from behind at the London stadium, to beat West Ham in a stunning second-half performance by Freddie Ljungberg’s side. The 1-3 away victory also ended a rare seven-game winless run in the Premier League for the Gooners.

Ljungberg faced a draw and a defeat to Brighton in his first two games. The London stadium was filled with anxious Arsenal supporters as Arsenal started the game in not so convincing fashion.

Michail Antonio kept coming at Bernd Leno but couldn’t find the back of the net. Just before the half an hour mark, Arsenal lost their left-back, Kieran Tierney due to a shoulder injury. 

The lifeless first-half went in the favor of the hosts, as Angelo Ogbonna scored a fabulous header via a chipped ball through Pablo Fornals, which deflected into the net after hitting Ainsley Maitland-Niles, in the 38th minute of the game.

The second-half witnessed a stronger start by the Gooners. However, they were slowed down by Mark Noble and company until the 60th minute.Gunners got the breakthrough goal through Gabriel Martinelli, who scored his maiden Premier League goal.

Surprisingly, it was also Arsenal’s first shot on target. The goals kept on coming as Nicolas Pepe scored a trademark ‘Arjen Robben’ in the 66th minute of the game. 

After coming back into the game, they started applying more pressure which resulted in their third and final goal, just after three minutes after scoring the second.

It was none other than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored an acrobatic effort . Arsenal being very lethargic and had poor possession with the ball in the first half  but turned around the game with a spectacular second-half performance with three goals coming, just in a ten minute period. 

With that exhibition of goals, the north London club jumped right into the top half of the table, only two points behind the Manchester United.
