Bastian Schweinsteiger wants Thomas Muller to join Manchester United?

Former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has stated that it 
might be the best for his former team-mate and close friend Thomas Muller to part ways with his 
boyhood club. 

The 30-year-old has been a bit part player for the Bundesliga giants for quite some time now. Things might not change even with the imminent arrival of a new manager following the sacking of Nico Kovac. 

Due to this, Schweinsteiger has endorsed Muller to seek a move away from Allianz Arena to join Manchester United just like he did a few years back. The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams in the past few months. In fact, the World Cup winner with Germany has been a long target of the Red Devils since the time they were managed by Louis van Gaal. 

The then-Manchester United manager could not get his hands on Muller back then but managed to 
lure Schweinsteiger away from the Allianz Arena. The former German international recently confessed that Van Gaal would often ask him about Muller and his availability. 

The German football legend, who recently hung up his boots, believes that a move to Old Trafford 
could see Muller’s career have a major turnaround. 

"Van Gaal really wanted him, always asked me, 'What is your friend Thomas doing?'. He would have 
done us good on United back then," said Schweinsteiger. 

"But Thomas was a bit younger, he did not want to leave Munich. Maybe that has changed in the 
meantime. His situation is different to mine back then. I was playing every game, then van Gaal contacted me, I wanted to try something new. Thomas is often on the bench lately, a change of air can do him good at the end of his career. He still has great quality."

Despite Muller not playing on a regular basis for the Bavarian giants, it is unlikely that they will be 
willing to sell him. He still remains highly valued by the Bayern hierarchy and the player might have 
to hand a transfer request in order to get a deal done. 

The Bundesliga giants were beaten 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt recently, which led to the sacking of Niko Kovac. RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick is the bookmakers’ favourite for the Bayern Munich hot- 
seat. Massimiliano Allegri and Erik ten Hag are also believed to be in the running for the job.
