This rising star of Bayern Munich is on his way to extend current contract

Alphonso Davies, who came to Munich from MLS team Vancouver Whitecaps last winter, still has plenty of time remaining on his current contract.

However, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sport 1, the Bavarians want to tie him down a brand new contract with a higher salary, which would keep him at the club until 2025.

A player who has come to Germany’s top-flight directly from MLS, Davies is underpaid compared to his contemporaries at the club.

Following Bayern Munich’s big win over Chelsea in the Champions League, one of the club’s key performers Davies was seen at his best. The player penetrated through the Chelsea backline and was unstoppable.

The Canadian has now cemented himself as the starting left-back at Bayern, with his incredible pace allowing him to mop up fast counterattacks that have been Bayern’s kryptonite.

Despite strong competition from both the other players, Lucas Hernandez and David Alaba, Davies is backed for starting in the future.

Davies earned his spot when he absolutely dominated the highly rated Reece James on the flank, often making it look so effortless that almost everyone was stunned.

There were few incidents when the Chelsea players slipped behind him, but Alphonso, with his rocket pace, took no time and dispossessed them before anything serious could happen.

In terms of maturity, physicality, and sheer talent, Davies has perhaps earned a lot of praise from all around the world and has already made it in the list of top young players in Europe at the moment.

All this has caused the management to hand the player a new and fresh contract because his performance at Europe’s biggest stage will surely attract other top clubs to start knocking Bayern’s door.

Initial talks have already begun and everyone at Bayern expects that the player will extend his stay at the club.
