Bundesliga to resume from May 16

The Bundesliga season will resume on May 16, German Football League (DFL) chief executive Christian Seifert has confirmed.  The Bundesliga was given the green light to resume in the second half of May.

La Liga also congratulated Germany’s Bundesliga for announcing its quick return as Spain’s top-flight begins to step-up preparations as well. The green light was approved when chancellor Angela Merkel made the announcement during a news conference on Wednesday.

Strict testing and matchday procedures is what the German government has decided, other clubs and leagues have already planned to resume training in the coming weeks. La Liga outlined its own plan for a staggering return to training, with teams set to begin individual work this week before gradually moving to work in group sessions.

The ultimate aim is to begin re-commence the 2019-20 season in June. Spanish clubs began testing players for COVID-19 on Tuesday and La Liga sees the Bundesliga’s situation as a cause for optimism following a difficult period, which has led to the Dutch Eredivisie and France’s Ligue 1 ending 2019-20 prematurely.

A statement read, “From La Liga, we want to congratulate the Bundesliga on the decision of its government to restart the competition from the second half of this month of May, as well as other leagues that are also reactivating in Poland, Israel, Turkey, Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Denmark and Portugal.”

“This is very good news for European football, for the return to a normal and for the reactivation of such an important economic and social activity.” Spain has recorded more confirmed cases that any other country in Europe, with its count totaling more than 253,600, while they have over 25,850 deaths.”

As there is hope for all football fans all around the world, there will be Bundesliga to entertain them from next week with the other leagues hopefully starting o function from June.
