Reports suggest Ancelotti to take charge at Everton

It has been reported by Sky Sports that Carlo Ancelotti, who was recently sacked as Napoli manager, is all set to take charge at Everton.

The affairs at Everton have been overseen by the caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson for the last couple of weeks, but the club hierarchy is in no mood to give Ferguson the job on a permanent basis given his lack of experience as a manager.

They have been holding meetings with the potential candidates to take charge permanently and they made it clear with an official statement on Monday that they were yet to make a final decision.

“We can confirm that thus far no contract offer has been made and no candidate has chosen to withdraw from the process. While the club is keen to confirm a new permanent manager as soon as possible, the only important duty is that the right appointment is made.” The statement read.

If the reports, however, are to be believed, the meeting between Ancelotti and the Everton hierarchy was really fruitful. It’s possible that the Italian might be unveiled as the new manager of the Toffees before their next game, which is a Carabao Cup fixture against Leicester City.

Even, if Ancelotti is appointed before the game against Leicester, his first game in charge will be the Premier League fixture against Arsenal, which will take place this weekend at Goodison Park.

Ferguson, who impressed one and all with the way he lifted the spirits of the side after they had slipped to the relegation zone will continue to remain associated with the club in his previous capacity as the first-team coach.

Everton are now 3 points above the relegation zone with two positive results in the last two games. They are currently on the 16th position in the points table.
