The meeting will be the third time both Alcaraz and Ruud will cross paths and for the first time in a Grand Slam match. The two have developed a recent tussle for supremacy and have entertained the fans at times.

Alcaraz vs Ruud: Player Analysis
Alcaraz, 19, has suffered a tough run-in that has seen him spend more time on the court than any other player (20 hours). The worrying factor will be the tiebreaks as he lost all four, and he lost two tiebreaks in the semifinal against Tiafoe.
With more than 40% break point conversion rate he will again fancy his chances against Ruud who has a solid defense.
The number five seed will have to keep a close eye on Alcaraz’s forehand which has seen him yield 341 winners so far. Ruud too has a solid forehand with his serve playing a key role in taking him to the final.
He has amassed 36 aces so far in the US Open while having a mixed record in the tiebreak. In seven tiebreaks so far Ruud has won four and will be aware of the luck factor that has eluded Alcaraz who has lost all four tiebreaks so far.

Journey so far in the US Open 2022
Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz will have to again bring the best out of him in the final after battling in three consecutive five-set matches. The 19-year-old Spaniard beat former champion Marin Cilic followed by Jannik Sinner.
The latter encounter saw him come from behind to clinch a place in the semifinal with the encounter lasting for more than five hours.
The 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 win against Frances Tiafoe also saw him stretch to the limits as he outclassed the home favourite. With more than 20 hours on the court, Alcaraz will be wary of the fatigue factor coming into the contest.
The first week was an easy passage for the number three seed while the second week was a struggle that he eventually overcame.
Alcaraz saw off the challenge from Sebastian Baez before he decided to retire in the first round. He then got the better of another Argentine Federico Coria in straight sets and then beat Jenson Brooksby to book a date with former champion Marin Cilic.
Casper Ruud
The Norwegian, like Alcaraz has also endured a tough period in the US Open before he reached the final. Before beating Karen Khachanov in the semifinal he faced the likes of Matteo Berrettini and Corentin Moutet.
In all the six matches so far only twice has he won in three sets with the rest of the four matches seeing him drop at least a set.
Tommy Paul was the toughest challenge so far for the Norwegian as he got away in a 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 5-7, 6-0 win. Ruud outclassed Kyle Edmund in the first round before getting past Tim Van Rijthoven in four sets.
