Leicester City midfielder wanted by Premier League duo on loan

Leicester City have received loan enquiries from Burnley and Newcastle United for their young midfielder Hamza Choudhury, according to reports in England. And, the reports also claim that Brendan Rodgers' side was swift enough to reject both approaches by their Premier League rivals. 

Rodgers is a big admirer of the 22-year-old English under-21 international and does not want to lose him in the middle of the season. Even though the midfield dynamo is more of a squad player at the King Power Stadium, he is a player Rodgers rates highly. 

Both Burnley and Newcastle United are believed to be in the race for the midfield enforcer and are ready to offer him chances in the first-team more often than he is used to be getting for the Foxes. 

However, Rodgers has made it known that he is not ready to lose the Englishman be even in the short-term. However, the midfielder failed to make the matchday squad for Sunday afternoon's game against the Clarets at Turf Moor. 

Choudhury, who won seven caps for England Under-21s, signed a new three-year deal in August. He graduated from the youth academy of the Foxes and has won 40 caps for the senior side already and nineteen of them have come this season. 

Leicester are third in the Premier League table after 22 games and are hot favourites to qualify for the Champions League for the next season. They are in the semi-finals of the League Cup, as well as into the fourth round of the FA Cup. 

And, it would have been a big surprise if Rodgers was prepared to sanction a loan deal for a player who is more of a regular in his 18-man matchday squad week in week out. 

Leicester City, meanwhile, continue to be in the market for an addition to their central defence. They have been strongly linked with out-of-favour Juventus defensive duo of Merih Demiral and Daniele Rugani but it seems unlikely that they would be able to get either of the two in the remainder of the January transfer window.
