Injury struck Liverpool look to sign versatile Bayern Munich star
Liverpool are eyeing a possible January move for versatile Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba to bolster their defense
The team from the red half of Merseyside are facing turmoil in their backline as several players have gone out injured. Recently, their centre-half Joe Gomez suffered a knee injury during the international break.
Gomez joins the list which already has a host of first-team players such as Virgil Van Djik, Thiago Alcantra, Fabinho,Kostas Tsimikas, and Trent-Alexander Arnold. As a result of this, Jurgen Klopp seems to be worried about his team's bad state.
The season schedule has proved to be a headache for several players and managers with Klopp himself openly criticizing the FA's behavior.
So, Liverpool are now back in the transfer market to secure potential replacements. Several days back, Bayern Munich Defender David Alaba was not offered a new contract by the Bavarians.
Now every top club in Europe is trying to get his signature. Juventus seem to lead the way but Liverpool are reportedly trying to lure him to Anfield.
The 28-year old Austrian is known for his versatility to play anywhere across the defense and Midfield. He is the ideal utility player that any team would love to have.
The Reds already have a footballer like that in James Milner. But the addition of Alaba would prove to be of enormous value and significance. Despite being in his prime, he has experience playing against several clubs across the continent.
Alaba's contract ends at the end of this season. He could even leave Bayern for half the price during the January transfer window. In addition to this, Liverpool are also interested in Olympiacos' Portuguese Centre-back Ruben Semedo and Sporting Lisbon Left-back Nuno Mendes.
A Loan Move for Alaba is also a possibility as the player is desperate to leave the Bundesliga giants. Joel Matip's inconsistency is also an issue for Klopp. The failure to sign a replacement for Dejan Lovren has turned into a terrorizing omen for the Premier League Champions.
