DOTA 2 Singapore Major: PGL confirms first Dota 2 Major of 2021 in March with a $500K prize pool
The first on-site Dota 2 tournament has finally been announced.
The Dota 2 Singapore major, which will be organized by PGL, will take place between March 27th & April 4th in Singapore. It is the first Major of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021.
The first offline Dota 2 event is happening after almost a year. The Singapore Major will be organized by PGL along with ONE Esports & Singapore Tourism. The tiny country of Singapore has its Covid-19 situation well under control. There has already been one premier esports event in Singapore this year.
The event will be taking place offline between March 27th & April 4th. It will feature the 18 teams which qualify. These will be teams from each group of the 2021 Regionals Leagues, which is currently ongoing.
DOTA 2 Singapore Major Details
The details do not say whether there will be an audience allowed, but this can change anytime before the event given how efficiently Singapore is handling their Covid-19 pandemic.
The 18 teams which qualify for the Dota 2 Singapore Major will be fighting for a $500,000 prize pool. Many agree that PGL is the perfect organization to run this show. They have already conducted 2 majors in previous years, and are also hosting the CS:GO Major later in October.
The Dota 2 Singapore Major will comprise of four teams each from the Europe and China regions, three teams apiece from the Southeast Asia and CIS regions, and two each from North and South America.
Apart from the Prize Pool of $500,000, the teams will also accumulate DPC points. DPC points will also determine the teams' positioning and are very important. The points table at the end of the 2021 Dota 2 Majors will determine which teams will qualify in the upper & lower divisions of The International 10.
This means, there is a lot at stake here for all the teams currently participating in the DPC 2021 Regionals League.
