Eden Hazard calls his first season with his dream club "rotten"

Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has confessed that his debut season at the Santiago Bernabeu has been pretty awful but he has also challenged that he will be way better next season. The €100 million Belgian just made 15 appearances in 2019/20 before football was suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

In that time, Hazard has managed to score one goal and set up five. After getting off on the wrong foot in the pre-season, several kilos overweight, Hazard suffered minor injuries in the early months of his time with Los Blancos. A fractured foot in December then sidelined the player for over two months, before he had to deal with another blow, a fresh ankle problem just two games after returning.

Speaking to RTBF, hazard confessed that his maiden season was not like the one he wanted but he is eager to get back stronger and will take the positives from it. He said, “My first season at real has been rotten. But that doesn’t mean it should be written off. It was an adaptation season. I will be judged in the second season. It’s up to me to be in good shape next year.”

“The squad is good. I met new people. For me, it’s a great experience. I still have four years on my contract. I hope I will be in great shape for those years.” Hazard also revealed that he has had the stitches from his ankle surgery removed and now he will work harder to get back stronger.

Hazard had planned a return in the Euro 2020 but now that the tournament has been postponed by a year, he will have more time to get back to his best. Hazard also spoke about that it is a tough time for all the football fans and they have to stick together.
