Three epic clashes

Eric Cantona's 1995 comeback drama

Manchester United 2-2 Liverpool

Eric Cantona, after serving a ban for assaulting a Crystal Palace fan, made his comeback in front of his home fans. Two minutes into the game, he sent in a pinpoint cross to Nicky Butt who took a beautiful first touch and found the net.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler was on top of his game and scored a screamer from 30 yards out to equalise. He added salt to the wound by chipping the ball into the net later, giving Liverpool the lead.

All eyes turned towards Cantona in the last minute as he stepped over the penalty spot after a foul on Ryan Giggs in front of goal. The Frenchman converted it and managed to salvage a point for the Red Devils.

1999 FA Cup heartbreak

Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool

Manchester United's treble season was marked by this last-minute crushing defeat against their rivals in the FA cup. It was a hard-fought victory as everything seemed to go against Ferguson's men.

Micheal Owen scored the first goal, giving Liverpool the early lead. United tried again and again, but were unable to penetrate the Reds' defense. Robbie Keane came the closest to scoring when his shot deflected off the frame.

It was an 88th-minute free-kick that was converted by Dwight Yorke that gave United some hope. Current gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer drove the final nail in the coffin by scoring in the 90th-minute, sending the Anfield faithful to tears.

Dimitar Berbatov's magical hat-trick

Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool

This game was the highlight of Dimitar Berbatov's stay at Manchester United as he helped the Red Devils seal a win at home. His magical start to the season continued as he scored late in the first half, giving United the lead.

The Bulgarian scored his second goal with a beautiful over-head kick. However, a foul on Fernando Torres inside the box resulted in a penalty which was neatly put away by Steven Gerrard. The Englishman scored from a free-kick again, leveling the game.

Berbatov came to the rescue as he headed home a cross floated by O'Shea completing his hat-trick.
