The BOSMAN rule means teams can approach a player while they are within their past six months of the given contract by their employers and have the right to choose their next team and move for free in the next summer once their contract expires. There have been many examples of players who switched alliances once their contract expired and many made moves to rival teams as well since it completely depends upon the player to choose their team without the interference of their employers unless and until there are any clauses mentioned in the contract they signed for the first time for their current team.
Every year many high-profile players are not given contracts beforehand by their current employers to extend their stay with them which ultimately gives them the utmost right to choose their next destination. Here are the biggest names going out of contract in the summer of season 2024.
1. Kylian Mbappe
Team: PSG
The most talked about player right now signed a one-year extension to his previous contract. France international Kylian Mbappe will surely be going out of contract this summer and Real Madrid is the club heard the most number of times when talking about his next employers. The player has also had a surprise link with Anfield giants Liverpool who have been rumoured to be considering giving him a package of 130 million euros per season as bait to lure him to England.
2. Thiago Alcantara
Team: Liverpool
One of the most skilful midfield players to have ever stepped on a football field, Thiago Alcantara will be getting out of contract this season with him having a mixed time during his time in England. Coming on from Bayern Munich he was a valuable addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad but his time at Anfield was hampered a lot by injuries that restricted his progress. It’s a bit unsure of where his next destination will be with some Saudi giants looking for his signature.
3. Adrian Rabiot
Team: Juventus
France World Cup winner is a key player in the Old Lady’s midfield lineup him now considering a move elsewhere to try new experiences he already tried the French Ligue and Seria A. The experienced left-sided midfielder is a target for Arsenal and Liverpool but can also be thinking of moving to Saudi Arabia with many top-flight clubs circling for his signature in the coming meantime it’ll be known where he will decide to move the coming summer.
4. Raphael Varane
Team: Manchester United
Raphael Varane was a high-profile signing for the Red Devils when he moved for a whopping 70 million Euros after clinching the UEFA Champions League. Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to recruit the defender at a very young age but couldn’t make his ambition come true with time passing by and the player himself joining them a while back. He couldn’t make a lot out of his move to the Manchester Reds with a lot of his time recovering from injuries.

It was a successful move for him considering the slump Chelsea faced when he moved out and will be hoping to move out again when his contract expires. A generational talent, the Argentinian maestro has had the best of his times with almost every club he has represented. Angel Di Maria has been a player who when required has performed well on larger stages considering his experience for some of the biggest clubs. As he now has a World Cup title associated with his name as well he might be looking to end his career with His boyhood club in Argentina being heard as his final possible destination but there could also be a twist with Saudi Arabian clubs keeping an eye for his signature.
7. Anthony Martial

One of the biggest prodigy when he was playing for AS Monaco, Anthony Martial was signed for a hefty sum by the Red Devils. The player spent quite a time in the city of Manchester with him not reaching the potential he was always thought of due to injuries and bad form. He also was sent out on loan but that didn’t even boost his morale with him now thinking of an opportunity to try his luck elsewhere with Manchester United with no interest in renewing his contract.
