FIFA World Cup 2022 | The Best Xl of the FIFA WC 2022 so far
With the FIFA World Cup 2022 set for the business end, few players have made an impression and should why they are the best in the world.
The likes of Jordan Pickford, and Kylian Mbappe have been excelling in their role while Jude Bellingham is also part of the debate for being the best player at the World Cup. With knockouts in progression here is a look at the best combined XI so far.
Jordan Pickford
The England goalkeeper has been in superb nick of form and has kept three clean sheets so far in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Achraf Hakimi
The Moroccan right-back has been making the runs inside out and showing his class on the field. Hakimi has been one of the prime reasons they topped the group to make the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Harry Maguire
There was huge criticism of Harry Maguire before the start of the tournament, but he has turned his haters into lovers with some mesmerizing performances. Maguire was substituted in the first match against Iran, but has since been reinstalled and is playing rock-solid.
Virgil Van Dijk
So far the Netherlands have been ruthless where it has mattered with Virgil Van Dijk leading the defensive line-up. Stopping the likes of Senegal, Qatar and Ecuador was the first herald for Van Djik and he has now followed that with a no-nonsense performance against the USA where he was unfortunate to have conceded a goal.
Daley Blind
Not just defensively but in an attacking sense, Daley Blind has been a man to keep an eye on while making the odd runs. Blind who is now accustomed to the left-back role scored against the USA in the quarterfinal and will be the man to watch out for going forward.
Bruno Fernandes
The Manchester United forward has been pivotal to the team’s success as they try to win the World Cup. Fernandes scored a brace against Uruguay on Matchday 2 and has cemented his place as one of the best midfielders in the competition.
Jude Bellingham
The England stalwart playing in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund has excelled under the tenure of Gareth Southgate, having made himself an integral part of the team. Bellingham scored England’s first goal of the FIFA World Cup s the 1966 champions ran riot to beat Iran 6-2.
Casemiro
The Brazilian maestro has slowly gone on with his business in the midfield and popped up with the winner in the 83rd minute against Switzerland. Casemiro could be the biggest difference-maker for Brazil if they are to win the World Cup in Qatar.
Lionel Messi
Tipped by many to be the greatest player of all time alongside Pele and Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi could cement his legacy having shown his rich form in the World Cup with three goals. As things stand Messi’s Argentina will face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals and will look to cement his legacy by moving into the last four.
Marcus Rashford
England forward is another gem in the World Cup who has thrived in his role and scored three goals already in the competition.
Kylian Mbappe
The next big thing in football, Kylian Mbappe scored two braces at the FIFA World Cup against Australia and Poland. His five goals see him sit at the top of the Golden Boot race and already has nine goals to his name.
