Two formations Frank Lampard would use against Crystal Palace
The Blues will be short of midfield options for Tuesday’s Premier League game at Crystal Palace with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic both injured, as manager Frank Lampard has said today.
N'golo Kante picked up a hamstring strain injury in the second half of Chelsea’s win over Watford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. while Mateo Kovacic did not feature last week in the 3-2 defeat at West Ham United after injuring his Achilles so he will might probably miss action on Tuesday night.
The two formations below shows the possible way Chelsea manager Frank Lampard could set up his team in order to win all three points at Selhurst Park.
4-3-3 formation
Andreas Christentensen could partner Kurt Zouma at the heart of defense, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James in the full back-positions, and Kepa Arrizabalaga is seen between the sticks.
Jorginho is almost certainly going to be recalled tomorrow having not started any of Chelsea’s last five games. Ross Barkley was on the scoresheet again at the weekend so I expect him to keep his place in midfield while Mason Mount could also start in the middle of the park after another positive show on Saturday night.
This trio would provide the platform for Christian Pulisic and Willian to wreak havoc in attack. Olivier Giroud would feature at the center forward position.
4-3-3 formation with some slight variation of players
Kepa Arrizabalaga is surely a shoe in. A four-man defense line of Cesar Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen and Reece James would be ideal.
The midfield position consisting of Billy Gilmour, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and hopefully Mateo Kovacic should feature. Christian Pulisic and Mount start at the left and right flank respectively. A reliable point man in Giroud guarantees goals.
