Chelsea striker's move to Serie A giants stalled

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud's imminent move to Inter Milan looks to be stalling as Chelsea and Inter Milan are reportedly unable to agree on a fee for the French striker.

The World Cup winner with France has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for quite some time due to lack of playing time and Inter always looked the favourites for landing him.

Crystal Palace and West Ham United were also believed to be interested in the veteran target man but Inter Milan always looked like favourites as they are a much bigger club and managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Conte was the manager of Chelsea when Giroud moved to the club and he rates the 33-year-old very highly. Inter are fighting for the Serie A title with serial champions Juventus and Giroud is wanted to boost the Nerazzuri's chances of winning the Scudetto after a long time.

Inter Milan are reportedly hoping to sign the French forward by paying around €5m which is half of Chelsea's valuation. Giroud is out of contract this summer but Chelsea are holding out for what they see as a fair price.

Only three starts this season has meant first-team football is a priority for the 33-year-old as he looks to remain in Didier Deschamps' plans for the upcoming Euro 2020. It could be his last chance to represent France in a major tournament and Giroud is desperate to get that chance.

Antonio Conte is hoping to provide support for key men Romelu Lukaku and Latauro Martinez with the signing of Giroud but it looks like the Italian giants will have to increase their offer if they are to land their target.

Since joining from Arsenal in 2017, the striker has scored 19 goals for the Blues but has struggled to keep to Tammy Abraham out the side this term.

22-year-old Abraham is having a sensational season having scored 15 goals this season having impressed on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship the year before.

Inter have also been in talks to sign Manchester United defender Ashley Young and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen. According to reports, Eriksen has also agreed a four-a-half-year deal with the Italian giants.
