FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC: Indian Super League (ISL) 2020 Prediction
FC Goa will be battling Mumbai City FC in the sixth game of the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
Match Details:
- FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC
- Venue: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa
- Date: 25th November, 2020
- Kick Off Time: 7.30 pm India Time
Match Preview:
Goa will be against their old manager Sergio Lobera while Ahmed Jahouh will miss the game against his former club as he is suspended due to disciplinary actions by him.
The Gaurs produced a stellar fightback performance in their season opener against the Blues as the game ended 2-2. Goa were trailing by two goals but thanks to Igor Angulo who fired a vital brace to rescue a point for his team.
Jahouh's actions against Northeast United earned him a red card and that affected Mumbai largely. They failed to recover and consequently lost.
Head to Head:
Both the teams have played each other quite a few times and the personal battle between the two is always a fierce one.
FC Goa have won half of the games against Mumbai, winning seven out of 14, losing four and three ending in a draw.
Mumbai will have some work to do if they want to get a positive result against Goa.
Team News:
Goa will be looking to hit the ground running from the very beginning and it is anticipated that the team will also be set that way.
Alexander Romario Jesuraj could start the game in place of Len Doungel and Goa would look to keep an unchanged squad otherwise.
The Gaurs have Saviour Gama available once again and he will be starting as the left-back replacing Sanson Pereira.
For Mumbai City FC, Ahmed Jahouh's suspension was a huge blow. Not only he became the first player to be red carded this season, he has also been warned by The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee very recently.
A two-footed challenge just 3 minutes prior to half-time is what earned the Mumbai player a red card and it didn't look that anything would fall in his favor. However, he is lucky that it is a warning with only a ban and no exemplary sanctions made.
Raynier Fernandes is also a doubt after injuring himself in the first game. Farukh Choudhary is expected to be his replacement.
Players to Watch out:
Igor Angulo from Goa is a definite pic as his season opener brace played a huge role in helping the team to avoid a defeat.
Alberto Noguera will be another player to look for as the winger is smart and always plays for the team. He has one assist to his name yet and hopefully, he'll add more contributions in future.
Mumbai will be vulnerable defensively and thus it will be the central defenders who can do the job for them. Hernan Santana will be one of the players who Mumbai will rely on.
Hugo Boumous will be their hope for any offensive returns as the attacking midfielder is definitely capable of doing so. Having lost the first game, Mumbai will have to make it work.
Prediction:
Without their central defensive midfielder, Goa will look to exploit them as much as possible. However, a special homecoming awaits Sergio Lobera and Hugo Boumous who played instrumental roles in Goa's title win in the last season.
Sportco predicts A draw between FC Goa and Mumbai City FC.
