Uli Hoeness wants Thomas Muller to Leave Bayern; Man Utd interested?
Manchester United have been one of the most under-performing teams across Europe this season. They have won just two of their nine Premier League games so far and are sitting seventh in the table. Just two points separate them from the danger zone. It's a crisis never seen before at the iconic club and it's therefore hardly a surprise to see them linked with plenty of big names in England and abroad.
The latest big name to be linked with a Manchester United move is Bayern Munich star forward, Thomas Muller. It is reported that the Red Devils have already made an inquiry for the World Cup winner from Germany.
The 30-year old German international has made his desire to leave Bayern known, after growing frustrated with his lack of game time under coach Niko Kovac this season. The Croat saw the versatile forward as a 'backup' and that has upset the player who has spent his whole career at the Allianz Arena.
Muller has been a regular on the bench following the arrival of Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona. However, with Kovac's dismissal things may change now. Remarks from club president Uli Hoeness, that it was obvious that things would be tough for Muller, has further upset the 30-year-old.
"Weeks and months ago, people hounded us to make expensive transfers. Then Coutinho comes and now the word is, "How can they not start Muller?" But it was obvious that if [Coutinho] comes things would be difficult for Muller,' said Hoeness.
Club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, however, has insisted that Muller still has a role to play at Bayern and remains highly valued but the forward may take some convincing. Manchester United have had a long-term interest in Muller, dating back to their Louis van Gaal days.
Muller though, now has a desperation which he did not have back then. The lack of Champions League football, however, could prove to be a hindrance to any deal.
Internazionale also have expressed an interest in the versatile forward as they look to replace injured Manchester United loanee Alexis Sanchez. Even though Muller is 30 years of age, he is contracted to Bayern till the summer of 2021 and will command a big fee.
Manchester United are also linked with a host of other players including the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Moussa Dembele, Denis Zakaria etc.
