Jadon Sancho : Chelsea or Manchester United?

The hottest property in Bundesliga and even world football right now has to be Jadon Sancho. The English winger has been performing at the very top level since two seasons now. 

That has, of course, caught the attention of top European clubs. The 20-year-old has been regularly starting for Borussia Dortmund and has been the subject of intense transfer speculation since months now.

Chelsea, a club that Jadon Sancho publicly admitted he supported as a kid, along with Manchester United has been heavily linked with him. Both clubs look set to be in a transfer war when the window opens, and the lock-down ends.

There have been reports linking him to Manchester United more than Chelsea. A move to Manchester United and the prospect of being the "poster boy" for the project that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown him seems to have appalled Jadon Sancho. Dortmund is reportedly asking a fee in the region of €120m for their talisman. 

You can certainly make a case for Jadon Sancho suiting better to United, given their strengths and weaknesses. Manchester United usually deploy the 4-3-3 with Rashford on the left, Martial in the striker position, and Dan James making runs in behind from the left. 

The obvious and pretty visible weakness right now has to be Dan James' spot. Jadon Sancho is someone who is one of the world's best in that position, and the right wing looks to be the last piece of the puzzle United wanted to complete since Sir Alex left.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have two issues, and hence should not prioritise signing the English winger. The first one is, having already secured the signing of Hakim Ziyech, Chelsea are spoilt for choice on the alternatives on the wing. 

Christian Pulisic has been performing at a very high level since his arrival when fit, and Ziyech looks to have sealed the right-wing spot. Also, Chelsea academy's hottest prospect Callum Hudson Odoi is set to give both of the wingers heavy competition and might even start above either of them. 

The second issue that Chelsea face is that they need to first spend in other positions, such as a strong commanding centre back, a striker to compete with Tammy, and left back too. 

Also, with Kepa performing at a very very low level, Chelsea should be in the market for some more competition to him too.

All these factors make the Chelsea interest seem less and less reliable. And Manchester United look to have found the last piece in their puzzle. 

The Manchester side look to have taken the lead already in negotiations, but as they say "In football, you never know".
