Kevin Durant: Career Overview

Kevin Durant, popularly known as KD or the Slim Reaper, was a prodigy since his early days in high school basketball. He ended up in the All-American team by the time he was a senior.

Committing himself to the University of Texas, KD would go on to dominate the college basketball scene as well before he would be drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007, as a second overall pick in the NBA Draft.

When Durant arrived in the NBA, his team was extremely weak and he was the only star in it. Kevin Durant won the NBA Rookie of the Year award before his team would move to Oklahoma and form the OKC Thunders. KD would rise and become a superstar in the NBA as he went on to play 5 straight NBA All-Star Games.

In 2012, Kevin Durant led his team to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heats. Of course, they would lose to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

After 2009, Durant established himself as the best scorer in the league, leading the league in total points for 5 straight seasons. He would end up winning the League MVP in 2014.

After failing to win a championship with OKC Thunders, Durant would move to the Golden State Warriors who were already amongst the best teams in the NBA history.

Joining Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, Durant formed one of the most dominating teams in league history.

They would go on to win the NBA Championship back to back and Durant would win the Finals MVP both times. Right before winning a third championship, Durant got injured and so did Klay Thompson.

This would leave Steph Curry in a tough spot as he would lose to Toronto Raptors in the Finals.

Kevin Durant would take his leave and join the Brooklyn Nets in 2020, along with James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Brooklyn Nets have been the favourites to win the Championship for the last two seasons but it hasn’t happened so far.
