Frank Lampard to go searching for strikers in January

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard reckons that his team needs strikers in the upcoming transfer window as that has been an area of concern since the departure of Eden Hazard.

Hazard was not only the frequent goal-scorer for Chelsea in the last couple of years; his role in the creation of goals in the advanced position in the midfield was the reason why Chelsea’s offensive line used to look penetrative.

However, as the Belgian left for Real Madrid earlier in the summer, it hasn’t remained quite the same. Chelsea’s attack seems to be lacking sting. The Blues couldn’t get a replacement for Hazard when he left as they were on a transfer ban.

Now that the ban has been lifted, the Chelsea board is believed to have entrusted Lampard with ample funds to go searching for a quality striker in the market as the transfer window opens in January.

After guiding his team to the Champions League knockouts last night with a victory over Lille, Lampard insisted that there’s a lot of room of improvement in Chelsea’s attack.

“We lost a lot of goals and creation with Eden [Hazard] last year, in his particular position. We missed some chances and we can probably push and look at strengthening in those areas.” Hazard was quoted saying in the press conference after the game against Lille.

Chelsea is currently going through a bit of a rough phase in the premier league as they have lost 3 out of their last 4 games. Two out of those defeats have come against comparatively weaker teams like West Ham United and Everton.

The Blues have still been able to maintain their position in top 4, but they would like to get back to winning ways as soon as possible. They will play Bournemouth this Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
