Leroy Sane to leave Manchester City soon
Pep Guardiola has confirmed Leroy Sane has rejected Manchester City’s contract renewal offer and may depart after this season.
The 24-year-old winger is planning on a return to Bundesliga with Bayern Munich the most likely destination. A deal was made by the club but did not reach a conclusion as the player sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage in Manchester City’s 2019 Community Shield game against Liverpool.
Throughout his recovery, the winger has been rumored to join the Bundesliga giants, though City attempted to convince Sane to extend his deal, which runs out in June 2021.
While on a news conference, Guardiola said, “Leroy said he doesn’t want to extend his contract. It means he wants to leave and it is going to happen this summer or at the end of the contract. The club talked to me a few times, offered him two or three times to extend his contract, he rejected his contract so he wants to play at another club.”
“I think everybody knows and if at the end of this season an agreement can be found he will leave. If not, he will leave at the end of his contract.” Leroy Sane has been out of action for a year and it seems the speedster wants more game time.
His minutes could be the only reason the player rejected the move as there were no other issues. A City squad built by Pep has stars at every position and there is a constant fight for a starting spot. Sane won two titles with the Citizens and his contributions were very vital in both of them.
Sane, who is back in training will be hopefully playing for the club until a deal with another club is agreed.
