Liverpool target Eredivisie left-back as a cover for Robertson

For many years in football, the full-back position was often the most neglected. Things have certainly changed in recent years as full-backs have become much more important to how a team plays in modern times.  

In Jurgen Klopp's relentless Liverpool side, their full-back duo have become the most crucial two players. The Reds are blessed with a gifted full-back duo of Trent Alexander- Arnold and Andrew Robertson which is the best in the world right now without any shadow of doubt. 

In recent years, we have seen some amazing attacking minded full-backs but the way Klopp uses his gifted full-back duo is really remarkable as they have become Liverpool's key source of creativity.

However, there is an area of concern and that is Liverpool's lack of depth in both positions. Even though there are players like Joe Gomez and youngster Ki-Jana Hoever who can fill in for Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson does not have a natural left-back to deputize him. 

The ever-reliable versatile James Milner has been used as a backup to Robertson but Klopp knows that it is not an option in the long run and therefore, he is reportedly looking forward to the transfer market for a solid cover of Robertson. 

If reports in England are to be believed, the Reds are reportedly keeping transfer tabs on Vitesse Arnhem left-back Max Clark. The 23-year-old defender has attracted the attention of several Premier League scouts with his excellent display in the Netherlands in recent months. 

A host of Premier League clubs are monitoring the former English youth international and Liverpool have now joined the chase as well. The 23-year-old has represented England at U16s and U17s level previously and Gareth Southgate is also said to be closely following his development in the Eredivisie.

The bombarding left-back has 18 months left on his deal at Vitesse contract and the Dutch side are said to be ready to listen to offers in January. And, Liverpool could striker yet another bargain to ease some pressure of Robertson who has played every single game for the Reds apart from the League Cup fixtures. 

Clark is naturally an attacking-minded left-back who has an eye for a cross. Liverpool's scouting network is the best in the world right now and if they are interested in the player, he must have something really special to offer and can only strengthen the team that looks unbeatable at the moment.
