Liverpool claim they have 'zero' interest in re-signing Coutinho from Barcelona
Philippe Coutinho enforced his dream move to Camp Nou from Merseyside in 2018 but things did not turn out as planned. After a dull debut season, Coutinho was loaned to Bayern Munich and Barcelona are eager to offload the €145 million signing once football begins and the transfer window opens.
According to The Mirror, Barcelona will let the 27-year-old leave in summer but his current team Bayern Munich, who can sign him for €120m will not be taking up that option and as per reports, Liverpool aren’t interested either.
Coutinho has reportedly admitted with his closed ones that he made a mistake by ensuring he left Liverpool for Barcelona. The report states that Liverpool have told Coutinho’s advisors that they have ‘zero’ interest in bringing their former playmaker back to Anfield, with the player’s age being a concern.
Coutinho will be 28 when the transfer window opens and the Reds consider that a £100m for a 28-year-old is not what the club wants. Coutinho will now be looking for a new club that helps him get his peak form which he reflected in Liverpool.
The Mirror also reported that Liverpool’s fierce rivals Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in bringing the Brazilian back to Premier League football. The concern with other clubs may not be the age but the value at which Barcelona would be willing to sell. Barcelona want at least €120m for Coutinho as they wish to reduce their losses after having paid an enormous fee for the Brazilian.
Manchester United is a very unlikely situation for Coutinho as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plan of promoting youngster is turning to be fruitful. In the case of Spurs, they will definitely try to bargain and get him at a cheaper cost.
Players usually spill up after being a part of big clubs and then being offloaded to any other clubs but Coutinho is probably not one of them and his decent run with the German giants says so.
