Manchester United "on their way back", says Michael Owen

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has Manchester United “on their way back” and their future appears very encouraging, as per former Red Devils and Liverpool striker Michael Owen.

Solskjaer had become a concern after a shaky start to the new season, weeks after taking over Manchester United as the permanent boss.

The Norwegian was unable to produce results even after a good investment in the squad in pre-season. Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James have shown some resilient displays but the results were not favorable.

Prior to the suspension caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Manchester United had been on their best run of form across all competitions under Ole, thanks to Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo, who have only made the squad better since their arrival.

United are enjoying an 11-match unbeaten run currently and will be hoping to keep it going as the likes of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford are match-fit as well.

Owen, when asked about Ole’s development told ESPN, “I think with this current stop, Manchester United might be the one team that wanted to continue playing, they were starting to get into a real good run of form. Fernandes had signed, he is a fantastic signing, Pogba will be back soon, this break has been good for Rashford as well, he’ll be fit.”

“All of a sudden, you’re looking at Manchester United and I haven’t been able to say this for years but you’re looking at that squad thinking, ‘wow, they’re on their way back’.”

Owen accepted that he doubted Solskjaer’s appointment at the beginning of the season but the way things have turned, he’s sure that Manchester United are on the right track and will be looking forward to getting back to winning trophies at the earliest.
