Manchester United prepare massive £90 million bid for Kalidou Koulibaly

Premier League giants Manchester United are preparing a whopping £90 million bid for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly as per reports in England. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views the 28-year-old as the perfect partner for Harry Maguire as the Red Devils look to make a mammoth offer in the summer.

Manchester United only made Maguire the most expensive defender in the world last summer and could break their own record if they sign Koulibaly for the reported figure.

The Senegalese was said to be fuming with Napoli after manager Carlo Ancelotti was fired and replaced by Gennaro Gattuso in December.

Koulibaly is also believed to have fallen out with the club's owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, along with a host of other senior players which actually led to the sacking of Ancelotti.

Manchester United have had a long-term interest in Koulibaly but so do a the other big boys of Europe. Napoli have done an excellent job so far in these many years to keep the Senegalese at the club but this time, they are believed to be open to selling for the right price.

As well as the enormous fee, the Red Devils will reportedly have to make the 28-year-old the club's biggest earner in order to get the deal over the line.

This would see him bag at least £350,000-a-week which will be equal to the wages of their star keeper David de Gea. Despite reports linking Koulibaly with a January move, the defender was believed to be keen on finishing this season at Naples.

The Red Devils made an offer for the star defender last summer also but De Laurentiis was unwilling to do business.

Instead, the Red Devils paid a world-record fee for Leicester defender Maguire who is now the captain of the club following Ashley Young's transfer to Internazionale.

Solskjaer's side will have to stave off solid competition from a number of clubs in order to seal a deal for the Senegal international.

They will have to ward off interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Chelsea who are also said to be keen and all of them could offer him Champions League football.
