Manchester United could face Champions League elimination if they lose to RB Leipzig

Champions League: Manchester United travel to Germany on Tuesday to face RB Leipzig in a do-or-die match with their qualification for the knockout rounds hanging in the balance. 

Manchester United are yet to seal their qualification from Group H. Paris Saint-Germain look favorites to beat Istanbul Basaksehir in the other group match. 

A draw would suffice for the red devils but then they face the prospect of finishing second in the group, which means facing a potential draw a Champions League Heavy-Weight like Bayern Munich or Barcelona in the Round of 16. 

The last time these two sides met, Manchester United put the German side to the sword with some clinical finishing including a second-half hat-trick for Marcus Rashford. The Red Devils will be upbeat after coming from behind to win 3-1 against West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both started on the bench for Manchester United at the weekend against the Hammers, but United manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had to send both of them on to the pitch to secure the 3 points for the Red Devils.

RB Leipzig comes into this match at the back of an exciting 3-3 draw against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The German side boasts a formidable record at home winning all 7 of their home matches so far in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.

Manchester United are likely to miss a few key players for this game. Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are all out due to injuries. Brazilian midfielder Fred is suspended for this game, while there are doubts over the availability of veteran striker Edinson Cavani and goalkeeper David de Gea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sets his United side to hit the teams on the break, with the pace of Rashford, Greenwood, and Martial. This tactic has clearly worked for Manchester United in the Premier League this season as they possess a 100% win record away from home. 

Manchester United would be aiming to deploy similar tactics against Leipzig with the onus on the German side to come out and attack.
