3 Reasons Why Manchester United Should Back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have had quite a rocky run in the league so far and their football has been branded as listless with the manager being thrown under the bus for the same. 

However, another change of manager within such a short span of time would reap no rewards and here we list down three reasons why the board should keep backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer:  

Promoting youth culture

The Red Devils have always stood for the youth being given opportunities in the first-team and Ole has carried forward that legacy by giving numerous minutes to the players being brought on from the academy. 

Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong, though rather subdued, have still had vital roles to play in some games. Mason Greenwood has regularly been given minutes to display his mettle on the field. Apart from this, Brandon Williams has capitalized on Luke Shaw’s injury and staked a claim for a regular starting berth. 

Ole’s refusal to go for a striker in the summer transfer window meant that Greenwood’s progress as a forward won't be stunted. Despite the results, Ole has been taking all the right calls that are synonymous with the nature of the club.  

Needs another transfer window or two

Ole has restarted a complete revamp, an overhaul of sorts by imparting his philosophy into the veins of the club. He brought players whom he thought would fit in well with his demands and that further shows that he has the clarity to make the appropriate calls with regards to the whole squad-building process. 

At such a moment, he deserves to be awarded more time, transfer windows and a plethora of funds to incorporate players whom he backs to change the course of action and bring the glory days back to United.  

The work he has done is visible on the field

Yes, United lacks creativity on the field, but it is also due to the lack of players, who possess creative acumen. Paul Pogba has been out injured for long and there is no one else in the squad, who can take the mantle to produce goal-scoring chances on a regular basis. 

Yet, United have identified their strengths are with their quick forwards and hence usually set up in a counter-attacking set-up that allows them to get good results over the upper-ranked teams but fall behind against the teams that park the bus. 

Only time and more investment into players of manager’s liking will help improve the situation.
