Jose Mourinho handed a one-match European ban

Jose Mourinho has made the headlines again after Tottenham Hotspurs lost marginally to Royal Antwerp 1-0 in the Europa League

UEFA announced that the special one will be facing a one-game ban as he was found guilty for Tottenham Hotspurs kicking-off late at Bosuilstadion in Antwerp last month. 

It is said that the suspension was actually “deferred for a probationary period of one year, starting from the date of the present decision.” The club was also fined €25,000 (£23,000) for being irresponsible and for the late kick-off. Besides that, they were also charged €3,000 (£2,600) for violating the UEFA equipment regulations. 

Spurs are currently the Group J leaders in the Europa League after three games with six points, ahead of Antwerp and LASK on goal difference. 

The more surprising fact is that the Special One has managed to win only twice out of ten times in their last ten away games after defeating Ludogorets this month. 

Harry Kane also became the third player only to score 200 goals for Spurs in all competitions behind Jimmy Greaves (266) and Bobby Smith (208). Kane also played a crucial role in rescuing three points for the Lilywhites against West Brom prior to the international break, with Spurs moving second and moreover, only a point behind Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes. 

Jose Mourinho seems to have brought a change in attitude in the whole of Spurs’ locker room and things seem to have finally settled for the Portuguese. 

The Portuguese manager's relationship with Tanguy Ndombele was not the best towards the end of the 2019-20 season and reports suggested that the Frenchman may move to Barcelona, but Mourinho has dealt with that too, with Ndombele showing more commitment and zest to be a part of the squad. 

Tottenham’s best finish under ex-manager Mauricio Pochettino was second and that is the least Mourinho would target if not the league in his first full season as Spurs boss.
