Lakers' Trade News: Austin Reaves Targeted for 4-Year Deal

NBA Trade : Lakers Plans To Offer Austin Reaves For 4 Years Deal

After receiving a qualifying offer from the Los Angles Lakers, Austin Reaves has agreed to a long-term deal with the team, Per Shams Charania of the Athletics and Stadium, Reaves's new contract will pay him $56 million over 4 years. After originally signing with the Lakers as an undrafted free agent, Reaves showed flashes of his potential during his rookie season.

He got an even bigger opportunity under Darvin Ham in his second season and made the most of it, eventually taking over as a starter and becoming the Laker's third most important player during the playoff run.

Appearing in the Point Forward Podcast in March, Reaves addressed the possibility of leaving Los Angeles in the off-season: “I would like to be here, it’s the NBA though, it’s a business at the end of the day. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t talented enough to come into the league at 18 or 19 years old, so a couple of contracts behind someone that’s a one-and-one. Anybody that says we don’t play the game for money, to me is lying. I feel like if you weren’t getting paid, you wouldn’t be here doing it. Obviously, everybody loves the game, but I want to make as much money as I can and be as successful as I can, no matter where it’s at.”

Reaves now not only gets a nice payday, but he will continue his career playing for one of the biggest brands alongside Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and other teammates with whom he has grown so close.
