Danny Rose joins Newcastle United on loan: How can he help them?

Newcastle United have agreed on a loan deal with Tottenham to take Danny Rose until the end of the season. Rose is reported to have fallen down the pecking order in north London under Jose Mourinho because of less game time and sometimes for not even being included in the squad.

Rose was asked in November on his thoughts on leaving and the player was hoping to see out his deal and then depart. However, there have been talks of a bust-up in Spurs training which was denied by the manager but the player’s future looked uncertain for a while and hence the deal.

Newcastle had been monitoring the left-back's situation after Jetro Willems’ season-ending injury on Tyneside. The Dutchman had been a standout player for the Magpies in the Premier League but he was confirmed to miss the rest of the season after rupturing a ligament in the same knee he damaged three years ago.

The club have agreed to pay a £2m loan fee and will have the option to purchase the defender in the summer if they wish to. 

This will also be a golden opportunity for Rose to prove himself worthy of a spot in Gareth Southgate’s upcoming Euro 2020 squad. Newcastle are currently 14th in the league.

However, a host of injuries to first-team payers have risked their season, thus Rose’s signing will help Steve Bruce to reinforce the squad as they try to retain their top-flight status. Rose has already shown his potential and a player of his caliber will be important in keeping the team together.

Newcastle have been very unpredictable this season and have dropped points very cheaply. Although, they have defeated top teams like Manchester United and Chelsea proving that they are a lot more than what they show. 

On the other hand, Rose has not been very effective this season and will try to regain his form ahead of a good run of games this remaining season. So it is expected to be a win-win situation for both the parties if the move pays off.
