Norwich City relegated from Premier League following a drubbing at the hands of West Ham
West Ham claimed a thumping win at the Carrow Road stadium, courtesy of four goals from Michail Antonio at the expense of Norwich City’s relegation from the Premier League.
Well, it was always coming, isn’t it?! The Canaries have been rudderless ever since the New Year and saw their fate mathematically confirmed after Antonio put four past Tim Krul at Carrow Road. Well, it took only 11 minutes for West Ham to start doing the damage when Antonio scored off Tomas Soucek’s corner.
Teemu Pukki’s early-season goal rush helped Norwich to a strong start early on in the 2019-20 Premier League. Once the Finn's goals dried-up, however, the Canaries were like a shadow of their former self.
Not only is Norwich going down to the Championship, but they’re also staring at the danger of losing promising talents like Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons to the Premier League clubs for the upcoming season.
On the other hand, West Ham is still in the relegation battle and the Hammers were searching for their first away win after a long time before traveling to Carrow road. Ukrainian Andriy Yarmolenko, who scored the late winner against Chelsea, was named on the bench while the Hammers’ record signing Sebastian Haller made his first appearance as a substitute since the project restart!
What’s coming next?
For West Ham: Watford, Manchester United, Aston Villa
For Norwich City: Chelsea, Burnley, Manchester City
It’s not the first time Norwich City has gone down from the English top-flight. They have gone down on four previous occasions in 1995, 2005, 2014, and 2016.
Arrivederci, the Canaries!
