Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talks about the transformation at Old Trafford
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks his Manchester United squad has a far better mentality than they had a year ago.
After an effective and impressive start in the Manchester United dugout by building a strong bond with the staff and the players, Ole is on his way to get the club back to its glory days.
Solskjaer ended the 18/19 season in a very disheartening fashion and fans thought signing the Norwegian on a permanent basis was not the best decision by the club. However, having started the 2019/20 season brightly against Chelsea, United began their run of inconsistency later in the league and dropped down in the Premier League table.
However, as things stand, Manchester United are just three points away from the top four spot and have been amazing in the Europa League too.
As Solskjaer has now succeeded in establishing a strong mentality in the squad, he believes he would “rather have a hole in the squad than an a*****e.”
Manchester United have been almost perfect in their recruitment this season and the United boss deserves huge credit.
With an 11-game unbeaten run that includes a famous derby win against the Citizens, Solskjaer feels the mental fortitude of his squad has seen drastic changes now and there are no more “personal agendas” among the players.
While talking to the United We Stand fanzine, he said, “Personality is so important. We’re a team in a team environment. You want players to have a bit of ego and edge but they have to be able to adapt. In March 2019, players were physically tired, mentally tired and we had injuries. The players started with negative thinking, whereas now it’s positive thinking.”
“There will always be players who want to play more in football but if a team is to be successful then players have to be available at different times. I feel in this group we don’t have one bad apple.”
