Pedro to leave Chelsea and join AS Roma for the 2020-21 season

World Cup winning forward Pedro will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season as his contract with Chelsea is set to end.

He was initially rumored to leave for Juventus but it is believed that he did not intend to play beside Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo.

His playing time was about to conclude this Monday and the Spaniard signed a small contract extension so that he could finish the whole season with the West Londoners.

The World Cup winner had no plans to stay after Chelsea made a series of trailblazing transfers, securing the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

Pedro signed for Chelsea in 2015 for €19 million from his boyhood club, FC Barcelona.

Having had an illustrious career with both the Blaugrana and the Spanish National team, the winger also tasted success with Chelsea too.

He helped the club to win three titles - a Premier League, an FA cup and a Europa League - during his five year stay at the London club.

Known to be a talented forward who could play on the either flank, Pedro was instrumental for the club particularly when Antonio Conte took over as Chelsea Manager.

At the time, Pedro formed a deadly attacking partnership with both Diego Costa and Eden Hazard which terrorized Premier League defenses.

The veteran featured in 202 games for the Blues and notched 43 goals and 28 assists in all the competitions.

But this season, Pedro just made 10 appearances and he knew that it was the right time to exploit his skills elsewhere in Europe.

AS Roma seemed to be the ideal destination for the forward and he will be at the direct disposal of manager Paulo Fonseca from the next campaign.

Pedro's expertise in playing against some of the toughest sides in the world is never to be forgotten and La Lupa will look to utilize his strengths.
