Players and their woeful career setbacks due to Injuries
1. Neymar Jr
Regarded as one of the best players that originated from Brazil if not the best, Neymar Jr could have been pretty much closer to a G.O.A.T title alongside Messi and Ronaldo if not suffered so many injuries in his career. The player with the most expensive transfer of all time and also regarded as the only player for whom the most money has been spent had almost 3 to 4 seasons subtracted from his glorious career.
2. Marco Reus
The Borussia Dortmund skipper, legend, and the most capped player even after almost 3 full seasons of games to be pulled out of his career due to injuries, Marco Reus is one of the most underrated players of all time. The legendary attacking midfielder and a loyal servant to the Yellow Wall was linked with both Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona but didn’t leave his home side even after receiving some high-level proposals.
3. Gareth Bale
Welsh legend and former Real Madrid Galacticos was a pacy left back when he was transformed as a left winger and then shifted to the right. The former Tottenham Hotspur prodigy was never a player who used to suffer injuries a lot but since his arrival to the Spanish Capital, he started facing fatigue issues resulting in calf injuries and muscle injuries mostly that hampered his career a lot eventually making him surplus to requirement in Madrid and calling his career at just 33.
4. Jack Wilshere
Remember the kid who blew away the entire fans in the stadium or say the whole world with his stellar performance against FC Barcelona in the Champions League being just 18. Yes, we are talking about Jack Wilshere here, the Hale-end prodigy from Arsenal who could never fulfill the potential he had at the start of his career. Injuries took a toll on him as his career ended in 2022 with him just being 30.
5. Thiago Alcantara
Brazilian-born Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara is a gifted footballer. An exceptional player with skillful full feet and an even better vision, the footballer was the only demand current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had put up when he was going to be appointed as the Bayern coach. It would have been nice to see Thiago playing all the matches every season but his injury-hampered seasons every season have never made him able to play 30 matches a season.
6. Paul Pogba
Manchester United, Juventus, Manchester United again and returned to Juventus. This has been the trip covered by French sensation Paul Pogba in his entire career. A career that has been injury-stricken throughout every season he has played in his life. His second stint for the Old Lady lasted just 23 minutes and a fact about that was a bit funny since he returned to the pitch almost 5 months later upon joining the Italian outfit. A player who would have done so well if not suffered frequent injuries.
7. Reece James
Current Chelsea captain and academy product Reece James is undoubtedly one of the best right-backs if you search the market. The attacking mindset defender is a threat when playing as a wing-back with exceptional crossing abilities and shot power. At just a mere age of 23, he has been an injury-stricken player most of his career with issues sidelining him for longer periods. His presence in the playing 11 impacts a lot when he is fit and the West London fans hope to see him more often due to his playing style.
