Premier League Gameweek 8: Preview and Predictions
After over a week of international football, consisting of thrilling games in the World Cup Qualifiers and UEFA Nations League, we are back to club football this weekend.
The Premier League gameweek 8 kicks off on Saturday and oh boy, are we excited to watch club football once again!
1. Watford vs Liverpool
Watford and Liverpool kick off the Premier League matchweek 8, in the backyard of The Hornets! Vicarage Road will host the Merseyside Reds, who are the only teams yet to be defeated this season.
Liverpool sits in the 2nd position in the league table whereas Watford FC is in the 15th position. Due to Liverpool’s brilliant form, we predict a Liverpool win.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Watford 0-1 Liverpool
2. Southampton vs Leeds United
Leeds is going to play an away game against Southampton and both the teams have had a start below their expectations this season.
Both Leeds United and Southampton sit right above the relegation zone, with Leeds having just 1 win and Southampton having none. With how both the teams have played so far, we believe it will be a draw.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Southampton 1-1 Leeds United
3. Norwich City vs Brighton
Brighton has been amongst the “overachievers” so far this season, they sit in the 6th position. Whereas Norwich is last on the table, sitting in the 20th position. This should be an easy win for Brighton with how they’ve played this season.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Norwich City 0-1 Brighton
4. Aston Villa vs Wolves
Both Aston Villa and Wolves have played very averagely through the course of this season, with Aston Villa sitting just 2 positions above Wolves on the Premier League table. We think that Wolves will continue their winning ways in this fixture.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Aston Villa 1-2 Wolves
5. Leicester City vs Man United (Detailed Preview)
Leicester City has gone downhill this season! Only 2 wins for a team that was in the conversation for the big six last year.
They’ve struggled defensively and Man United has looked good in the attack, of course. However, Leicester City will be coming in an all-out attack against the Manchester-based club, they never fear any big names.
Here are some key stats for the game between Leicester - Man Utd:
- Leicester City have kept only 1 clean sheet in the 2021-22 Premier League season. That is also their only clean sheet in their last 13 Premier League matches.
- Paul Pogba is currently leading the Premier League assists chart with 7 assists.
- Bruno Fernandes has created the most chances (23) so far in the league.
- Luke Shaw is the player with the most chances created through set plays (11) in the 2021-22 Premier League season.
- Manchester United have not lost their last 29 Premier League games, away from home
- Jamie Vardy has scored in each of his last 3 Premier League appearances. He, however, last found the net against Manchester United, across all competitions, in 2018
According to our intuition, we believe Leicester might get back to their winning ways.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Leicester City 1-1 Man United
6. Man City vs Burnley
After a rocky start in the start of the season, Man City seems to have found their form in the Premier League. Burnley’s rocky road is yet to end, as they sit on the relegation zone. This should be an easy win for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Man City 4-0 Burnley
7. Brentford vs Chelsea
Chelsea has been the best team in Premier League so far this season, sitting in the first position in the league table.
Brentford’s run so far has also not been short of being historical, with only 1 game lost amongst the big boys. Brentford has already played two of the traditional top 6 sides, earning four points out of the two games (draw against Liverpool and a win against Arsenal on opening day).
Thomas Frank's men will make things difficult for Thomas Tuchel's side, who have won just one of their last 4 games in all competitions and hence we feel this match would finish all square.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Brentford 1-1 Chelsea
8. Everton vs West Ham
Everton has also been making some noise this season under new manager, Rafa Benitez. West Ham looked great at the start of Premier League but have seemed to slow down in the last few weeks.
This fixture, like a few of the others, is a tough one to predict. Everton’s wins have come against the teams who sit in low positions on the table. West Ham might make their way back into the top 6 with a win this weekend.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Everton 2-1 West Ham
9. Newcastle vs Tottenham
Newcastle has been all over the news last week with their new owners, they have been predicted to do great things already.
However, they still sit in the relegation zone this season with no wins to their name. Tottenham started their season great but slowly fell off to the 8th position from the top. Nuno Santo’s team should get it done, however, we believe it might end up in a draw.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham
10. Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
From being labelled as one of the worst managers in Europe, to winning the Premier League Manager of the month award, Mikel Arteta’s come a long way.
Crystal Palace sits on the 14th position, 3 below their upcoming opponents. Arsenal should win this game convincingly to prove that they’re back on their way to the top 6 positions.
Premier League Gameweek 8 Predictions: Arsenal 2-0 Crystal Palace
