Rafael Nadal Record in Wimbledon finals

At 36, Rafael Nadal has played in five Wimbledon finals, winning two and losing three. Four of those finals involved either Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic as he shared the stage with the greats of the game.

From 2006 to 2008, Nadal and Federer graced the game with some remarkable performances, beating Federer in the 2008 Wimbledon final was one of the highlights of Nadal’s career.

In 2010 Rafael Nadal beat Tomáš Berdych in the Wimbledon final, where he didn’t drop a set on his way to the Wimbledon title.

Defending the title though is something he hasn’t managed, a vintage Novak Djokovic got the better of Nadal in 2011 final, which saw the Serb win three titles in a single calendar year.

Can Nadal end 12-year drought?

Earlier in the year, the Spaniard ended his 13-year wait for an Australian Open title and won his 21st Grand Slam title. It is 12 long years since the 14-time French Open champion won the Wimbledon title. A win in the 2022 championships will end his title drought, Federer may no longer be in the scene but Djokovic is still around.

Seeded second for the tournament, the former World No.1 will be determined to make the occasion and secure his third Wimbledon title. If he does succeed it will also be his third Grand Slam of the year. Also if he secures the Wimbledon Championships, he will equal Serena Williams' tally of 23 singles Grand Slam titles, one behind the all-time record of Margret Court.
