Wolves confirm that Raul Jimenez has a "fractured skull"

After an emphatic win over the gunners, Wolves have now confirmed that Mexico forward Raul Jimenez has sustained a fracture in his skull.

Jimenez was involved in a nasty collision with the Arsenal central defender David Luiz while defending a fifth-minute corner at the Emirates stadium.

The Mexican left the field on a stretcher after receiving ample oxygen and a lengthy paramedic attention.  

Raul Jimenez has now undergone a surgery confirming the nature of the injury. However, a ray of optimism in this tragic accident is that the Wolves forward was comfortable after the treatment.

Jimenez has been perhaps the most vital player for Nuno Espirito Santo and his statistics speak volumes.

The Mexican has scored four goals in this season in the top-flight,  followed by a relishing 2019-20 campaign, firing 17 goals and setting up six for his club.

The forward was replaced by Wolves' new signing Fabio Silva who had a decent game. However, it was Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence who took the job in their hands and took the team through, despite losing their star man in the early quarter of the game.

Player safety has become a huge concern in the sport now, as the competitive nature of the game leads to several injuries with severe consequences.

Be it Yves Bissouma's 'sweet chin music' kick to Newcastle United defender Jamal Lewis or Heung-Min Son's inadvertent leg breaking tackle on Andre Gomes last season.

The studs showing tackles are already inhibited in the game as they possess a huge chance of injuring players critically and therefore, any potential challenge with the studs facing are now punished with a straight red card.

The Brazilian defender David Luiz sustained a bang on his head too but he was adjudged fit to continue despite the bleeding being visible.

Rules need to be altered for the corners too as players get overly physical in the box and it was a case of the same concern that caused a nasty clash between the attacker and the defender.
