Ryan Giggs wants Manchester United to sign more top players for Solskjaer

Former Manchester United hero and now the manager of the Wales national team Ryan Giggs has urged his former employers to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Welshman wants Solskjaer to supported with a budget that can allow up six big transfers.

Solskjaer splashed out £150m on three players last summer but his side has struggled for form this season, let alone challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the title. A few weeks ago they were in the bottom half of the table, though now they have recovered a bit. 

Giggs believes that the squad needs a major overhaul and rebuilding in the upcoming transfer windows and the club must sign a top-class creative player.  The Wales manager stated: "We need to bring quality in. Ole has brought three in who are all doing well. His dealings have been very good so far. Give him the money other managers have had to get Manchester United players.” 

"Get another five or six players like that in, we will see a real difference. They are missing that creative player. It is no coincidence, the best performances have been against good teams. The lesser teams are always harder to break down.” 

"We are probably just a bit shy of them creative players and I think Ole recognises that. It has been a difficult start. As far as Ole is concerned, I know him well, as a player and a person.” 

"He is going to need time. Since the manager left, different philosophies and types of players and Ole is trying to turn that around. He is looking at the future and trying to win games at the same time. It is difficult. When you are in a league with Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola fantastic, established coaches. I do not care who came in, it was never going to be easy." 

It is quite evident that Giggs has a lot of trust in his former colleague and there is no denying the fact that Giggs is right to some extent. Since Solskjaer's appointment, the Red Devils have played good football in patches for a few games, but consistency is the key in the top flight of English football. 

Solskjaer is a young manager who has a lot to learn but from his early days, it is evident that his style is very different than that of Jose Mourinho. Also, the squad the Norwegian inherited was a depleting one and overnight progress is never possible. 

The best example with this regard will be of Liverpool. United are at present, where the Reds were after a decade of mediocrity and heartbreaks. Jurgen Klopp also took time in order to lead the progress of the European champions. Solskjaer taking time is therefore excusable, but he will need the right kind of players to be signed soon. 

Manchester United are one of the biggest brands in world football with unparalleled revenue. It is high time that they reinvest right, in order to back the manager they trusted at a difficult time for the club.
