Many people came to know that Mohamed Salah was a Chelsea player when he broke many records in a Liverpool shirt but how many knew it when the Egyptian was playing in Roma?

How it Began

Mohamed Salah started his senior career with the Egyptian outfit Al Mokawloon and went on to move to a Swiss side, Basel. After some commendable displays, he was signed by Chelsea in 2014 for a fee of 11 Million. 

However, Jose Mourinho had options galore available, and he didn't feel that Salah was fitting in his system, leading to allowing Salah to leave on loan to Fiorentina and Roma.

Roma then signed the forward permanently for a reported 15m. The Egyptian became a key member of the Roma squad, helped the club finish second, and also finish with a club record points tally.

That particular season attracted Jurgen Klopp and the Reds to sign Salah and bring him back to Liverpool for a then club-record fee of 36.9m. This time the Egyptian was clear in his mind that he wouldn't budge without expressing his true self.

He articulated it so well as he went on to break the Premier League record for a 38-game season, firing 32 goals in 36 games and claiming the Premier League Golden Boot too.

The season helped him being awarded as PFA Players' Player of the Year and becoming the third-best in 2018's Best FIFA Men's Player award. Since then, the Egyptian hasn't seemed to stop, but as far as 2021 is concerned, there are some things he needs to sort out.

Mohamed Salah: Statistics

At the Egyptian club, Salah managed 12 goals in 44 appearances, followed by an improved performance where he fired 20 goals over the two seasons with Basel, making 79 appearances.

His form dipped again as his playing time got severely dropped, as he netted only twice for Chelsea in 19 appearances.

As mentioned before, his loan spells were crucial in making him realize how good he can be, something he went on to prove in the coming seasons. From the 2014-15 season until 2017-18, Salah scored 34 goals in 83 games, not his best but way better than his recent performances.

After signing for Liverpool, Salah knew he had to step up and make sure that he stands up proudly as the club's then-record signing. the Egyptian was onto the task from the first game itself, breaking the record in his first season, and he hasn't stopped scoring since then.

The former Chelsea and AS Roma forward has scored 111 goals in just 177 appearances for the club and has already surpassed Steven Gerrard's Champions League goal tally.

Salah had made his nation proud too, not only just by scoring the penalty that helped Egypt qualify for their first-ever World Cup, but he also has 43 international goals to his name in only 68 appearances.

Mohamed Salah: Playing Style

Often called the 'Egyptian King' Salah has made pretty handsome changes to his style. Nicknamed 'Pharaoh', Salah has worked on himself to become one of the fiercest wingers in the world.

He is technically sound, while his dribbling above par too. He can play from the right, his most usual position, but he has the ability to play the number nine role too.

His stronger foot is left but we have often seen him finish some of the most exquisite goals from his right foot. Lacking a bit of form at the moment, Salah is expected to bounce back with plenty of goals.
