Despite a shaky season, the Chiefs are still in the fray, having just won an eighth consecutive AFC West title. They may have suffered a recent downturn, but a team with a player of Patrick Mahomes' talent should not be underestimated. The Chiefs huge win over the Bengals in Week 17 put them at 10-6, entering the playoffs as the No. 3 seed.

Although it has evaded teams for years, the Chiefs have the best chance of breaking the cycle of back-to-back Super Bowl victories since the 2003–2004 New England Patriots. Their recent struggles might just be a stepping stone to a stronger comeback.

Miami Dolphins/Buffalo Bills +950

The Dolphins and Bills share the same odds, and the two teams will square off for the AFC East title Sunday night in Week 18, with the winner getting the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

Despite a few hiccups against stronger opposition, the Dolphins have shown promise this season, especially with the exceptional offense performance led by Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins will have to overcome a season-ending injury to defensive star Bradley Chubb if they are to reach their first Super Bowl in 39 years.

The Bills, unlike the Dolphins, are still not in the postseason. A win could vault them to the second seed, but a loss could see them miss the playoffs altogether, so Sunday night’s game means more to them. After a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles, the Bills have rattled off four straight wins to put them in position to win the division.

Here are the top three NFC teams currently favored in the betting odds for this year's Super Bowl showdown.

San Francisco 49ers +220

The 49ers are leading the charge in the NFC and the NFL at large, in terms of odds. They have lost just one game since returning from their bye week, which indicates the team's resilience and tactical effectiveness. The spotlight shines brightly on their quarterback, Brock Purdy, who has exhibited an outstanding performance since the bye, notably throwing four touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15.

After a surprising three-game skid following a 6-0 start to the season, the 49ers have managed to regain their footing and solidify their position as one of the top teams. Their recent triumphs speak volumes about their capabilities and make them a formidable contender for Super Bowl LVIII. Like the Ravens, they have clinched home-field advantage in their conference.

Dallas Cowboys +850

The Cowboys are now atop the NFC East after pulling out a pivotal win against the Detroit Lions in Week 17, although not without controversy. That coupled with the Eagles' surprising meltdown has thrust the Cowboys into the NFC’s No. 2 spot, netting them potentially two home playoff games, including a potential rematch with the Lions in the Divisional round. While the Cowboys experienced losses on the road to the Bills and Dolphins in recent weeks, they have won all eight games played at home this season. 

The Cowboys may have to go on the road to San Francisco, however, if they are to make it to their first Super Bowl in 28 years. The Cowboys are a disappointing 3-5 away from home, a record that the media has not been quiet about. However, in the playoffs, records are meaningless; it’s all about execution. Quarterback Dak Prescott has the kind of playmakers around him to make a deep playoff run.

Philadelphia Eagles +1200

The Eagles are still in the hunt despite their recent setback. The defending NFC champions started the year 10-1, dominating in every facet of the game, but have now lost four out of five, seeing them slip from the No. 1 seed to the No. 5 seed. A Cowboys win on Sunday would put the Eagles on the road against the NFC South champion in the Wild Card round.

It would be premature to write the Eagles off, though, especially after the magic they produced in the playoffs last season. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has a history of great play and he has amazing talent around him. The defense, however, must step up if the Eagles are to make the Super Bowl for a second straight season.
