Ter Stegen says, "Winning El Clasico would mean everything to Barcelona"
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been talking about El Clasico and says victory on Sunday would “mean everything” to his team.
Quique Setien’s side can move five points clear with a win at the Santiago Bernabeu and have an excellent recent record at the home of their fierce rivals.
Ter Stegen explained what Barcelona will try to execute if they are to take a vital three points home from the Spanish capital on Sunday night.
He said, “We want to play as always, we want to keep possession, we want to be better than the opponents. It will be tough but we can stop them, we have great players, hopefully, they can’t come to close to me.”
“The key to do this is teamwork and we know that everything needs to work in special moments. We need to be there, we need to be focused and ready and this is one of the moments in the season that we can really make a change."
"It’s on us. It’s not about somebody else. We know we have a lot of strength. I’m very confident when it comes to our team.”
“This would mean everything to us to win this game.” All this will be looming on Real Madrid’s players after their recent defeat to Manchester City.
The Los Blancos have had a poor record at home when it comes to the El Clasico. However, Zidane and company will do all it takes to take the three points and come on top of the table again.
Madrid players know very well that a defeat here could change the course of the title race and they might lose Barcelona and never be able to catch them again.
The Catalans will be worried too, as they might be without Gerard Pique in the game, a player who is not only a top defender but also a leader.
