Winning is in Real Madrid DNA, says Zidane
After taking a step towards resuming normal activities like training, Zinedine Zidane hopes that Real Madrid fights hard for the La Liga crown. Working out has begun in small numbers and players seem to be excited yet worried about the future.
The Madrid head coach led sessions at Valdebebas recently, with players able to resume group workouts in small numbers. It is hoped that the 2019-20 La Liga season, which was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic will be underway in June. Madrid entered the break two points behind rivals Barcelona but Zidane is still focused on making a fight for the title till the end if and when the campaign resumes.
Zidane spoke to Real Madrid TV and said, “This week has been very good because we can work more in small groups. We can do more tactically, physically and technically. The team looks better this week and next week will be much better. We have to think positively because we are lucky to be back at work, to be here on the pitch and it looks good to me. The players are thinking that now they have to make the most of it, to enjoy it.”
With 11 matches still left to finish, Zidane is aiming for a strong season finish. He expects that the team gives everything as he says, “Winning is in Real Madrid DNA.” Zidane is satisfied having been able to work out with the squad after months of barely any activity. Zidane also revealed that fitness coaches have been trying to do everything they can to keep the players fit.
Players have been personally training as well and Zidane hopes that every player maintains his shape and shows proper commitment once the season resumes as they also have a Champions League clash against Manchester City remaining with the Los Blancos being in a one-goal disadvantage.
