Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich: Bundesliga: Match Preview & Prediction
Robert Lewandowski will be the centre of attraction as 2019-20 Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich heads to the Volkswagen Arena to finish the season on a high.
The Bavarians wrapped up their eighth successive Bundesliga title with a solitary Lewandowski goal a couple of game-weeks back. This was their 29th Bundesliga crown.
Wolfsburg have also managed to secure one of the Europa League spots and will be looking to dampen Bayern’s party a little. This dead rubber may turn out to be one hell of a game as both parties look to entertain one and all.
Last time out
Bayern rode on their youngster’s Joshua Zirkzee and Serge Gnabry brilliant late goals to clinch all three points against a fighting Wolfsburg side. They won 2-0 at their home.

Team News
For Wolfsburg, Renato Steffen is available after suspension but Jerome Roussillon is struggling with a calf problem and may miss out. Yannick Gerhardt could come back into the side.
For Hansi Flick’s outfit, big names such as Philippe Coutinho, Niklas Sule and Corentin Tolisso are out of this clash. With the Cup final in sight, some senior members could be rested and youngsters such as Joshua Zirkzee and Sarpreet Singh may get some minutes or even start.
Key Battles
John Brooks vs Robert Lewandowski
Brooks will be given the task of handling the hottest striker in Europe at the moment. Lewandowski will be looking to replicate the five goas he scored against the Wolves in a sensational nine minute burst a few years ago.
The Pole already has 33 goals to his name this season but Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals is realistically out of his reach with one game left. Apart from his 5-goal wonder, he has scored 20 goals in 18 Bundesliga games against Wolfsburg and they should be afraid, really afraid.
Brooks will have to face his biggest test yet and has to play out of his skin to stop Bayern’s MVP. It will be interesting to see how close Lewandowski gets to Muller’s record.
Wout Weghorst vs Jerome Boateng
Weghorst has done the bulk of the scoring for the Wolves and is chiefly responsible for taking them to Europe next season. The Netherlands national has scored 16 goals and has provided three assists to his teammates.
After the injury to Niklas Sule and departure of Mats Hummels to Dortmund, Boateng has cemented his spot in the playing eleven. The Germany international is also performing admirably well and has left his former woes behind.
The World Cup winner averages 2.2 clearances and 1.4 interceptions per game, which will come in handy in stifling Weghorst and his troops to not let them have a sniff of goal.
Prediction
Bayern have won their last 12 Bundesliga games and they are on a 19-match unbeaten run with their last defeat coming in early December last year. They have also won 10 out of their last 11 matches against Wolfsburg in all competition and also have a phenomenal away record.
The Wolves have conceded at least two goals in their last three home matches in the league and this spell bad news against the mighty Bavarians who have scored a whopping 96 goals this season.
They have been in a decent form after the restart and may score a goal but even a rotation-threatened Bayern would be a handful for them. We predict a win for the Champions.
Score Prediction: Wolfsurg 1-2 Bayern Munich
