Bayern lineup 4-man shortlist to replace Niko Kovac

Bayern Munich's disappointing display against Eintracht Frankfurt cost Niko Kovac his job as he was sacked by the club's hierarchy.

The news did not come as a surprise as he was facing intense pressure in recent times. The 5-1 defeat of the Bavarians proved to be too expensive as Munich decided to part ways with their former player.

Niko Kovac took over as Bayern coach on July 1,2018  leading Bayern to their seventh consecutive league title and a Cup double thus proving himself as an effective tactician.

The recent 7-2 thumping of Tottenham in the UEFA Champions league group stage proved to be a decisive factor in strengthening his position as the coach for a long time.

But what happened after that was embarrassing as Bayern succumbed to two defeats and three draws in the last five fixtures taking a toll on the club's league dominance.

They stand fourth in the Bundesliga table currently. After suspending the open training session on Sunday morning, the club's board resorted to swift action to end the run of poor and dismal performances by the team.

As per reports circulating around Munich, Former RB Leipzig coach Ralph Rangnick is the front-runner to take the reins at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern have also contacted Arsene Wenger for the job as they view him as a potential suitor for the posting.

In addition to this, current Ajax coach Erik ten Haag and former Juventus manager Massimilano Allegri also make the alleged shortlist.

Erik ten Haag's impressive run with Ajax has impressed the Bayern board. It will be no easy task for the Die Roten as the 49-year old is under contract with the Dutch champions.

A rumor has surfaced that Jose Mourinho will take the job on a permanent basis. But,Club President Uli Hoeness will not be pleased to see the Portuguese down the touchline and the board will be looking for other options.
