Mason Greenwood in Manchester United; Robin van Persie reborn!

Mason Greenwood has been in stunning form this season. Being the youngest player of the Manchester United first team has reflected nowhere in his games as his mentality and composure have been one of the best in this young United squad.

Mason Greenwood is already called the ‘xerox copy’ of the great, ‘Robin Van Persie’. RVP himself, in an interview, told the media that the young lad tries to copy him and does the job quite brilliantly and this quality will surely make him one of the best. 

The Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, when asked about Greenwood’s calm and crisp finishing, replied by saying that he’s seen and played with legendary players like Wayne Rooney when they were very young, but Greenwood is certainly the best from the lot. 

Right foot or left, you never know what’s coming against you.

Mason Greenwood has already scored more senior goals than the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Memphis Depay and Angel Di Maria, and has also outscored the Arsenal duo of Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette.

The newly signed centre-back, Harry Maguire, praised Greenwood by saying that in spite of taking very few touches, he manages to pull it off from tough angles and that he is also one of the most hardworking players on the training ground.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, when asked about the first time he met the youngster, said,” I actually do remember when I met him the first time because my son was training at the cliff as an eight-year-old and Mason was seven." 

"The first time I saw him he stood out and I took a picture with him. Now he’s here.”

Greenwood’s presence in the United team is also symbolic of the club’s tradition of playing youth players. The game against Everton on Sunday marked the 4000th consecutive time an academy player featured in the United first-team.

Greenwood also went on to equalize and score the only goal for Manchester United in a disappointing draw against Duncan Ferguson’s Everton.
