Ciro Immobile, the best striker in Europe at the moment?
Alessandro Moggi, who is the agent of Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, believes that the Italian, who is currently the top goalscorer of Serie A, is a bright signal of Serie A‘s resurgence.
The 29-year-old Lazio star scored a brace in a 5-1 thrashing of SPAL, which made his goal tally reach 25 goals in Serie A in this season.
Immobile is the most major contributor to Lazio’s 52 Serie A goals this season. He leads the European golden shoe race ahead of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
The Italian striker is also six goals ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the Serie A chart. He is, in fact, the first player since former Inter, Roma and Milan attacker Antonio Valentin Angelillo back in 1959 to reach 25 goals in the first 21 Serie A games of the season in Italy’s top flight.
With such a list of dominant performances, his agent is in no doubt as to how he compares to the other leading forwards in the continent. According to him,"he’s the best striker in Europe, not just Italy,” he said to Tuttomercatoweb.
It’s all because of this Lazio star that they are into a Scudetto challenge surprisingly. Simone Inzaghi’s men, who have lost only twice this season, will move second in the Serie A table and to within two points of leaders Juventus if they beat Hellas Verona on Wednesday.
Moggi also stated that the fact that Inter and Lazio are still in the race of catching the Old Lady’s dominance this season, Serie A is on its way to enter in line to become Europe’s elite league once more.
Moggi made it clear that it was not a coincidence but the hard work the three teams have put in. He emphasized the work of Lazio sporting director Igli Tare, who has managed to make this team competitive and even fight for the title with fewer resources.
Moggi said, "Serie A has got back to spending. It’s returned to a league of arrivals, not only departures. We can get back to the glories of the past.”
