Punjab Kings will face Delhi Capitals in the second fixture of IPL 2024. Both sides had disappointing campaigns in 2023 with Punjab Kings finishing ninth and Delhi Capitals in eighth. PBKS would be led by the veteran India opener Shikhar Dhawan, while Rishabh Pant is back after a 14-month-long injury lay off to take charge as the Delhi Capitals captain. The match is set to take place at the newly built Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur which will be the new home venue for PBKS this time around.

Punjab Kings won their opening two matches in the 2023 IPL but were then unable to win back to back games throughout the rest of the tournament. They will need some of their big name players to perform in this match. PBKS will be looking to the likes of their skipper Dhawan and England top order batter Jonny Bairstow to take the lead at the top of the order. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals were a big disappointment in their last IPL campaign but coach Ricky Ponting will be hoping that the return of keeper-batter and skipper Rishabh Pant will give his side a big boost. He plays with a freedom of spirit and cricket lovers from across the globe will be delighted to see him back after his car accident in December 2022. DC have plenty of talent, particularly in their batting line-up. There are also plenty of in-form players for Ponting to call upon with Marsh, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Kuldeep Yadav all playing at the top of their games.

Both teams couldn't make it to the playoffs last year and this time will be keen on putting up an improved show. Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals both are aiming for their maiden IPL trophy and would be expecting a strong start.
