Jamshedpur FC vs Chennaiyin FC: Indian Super League (ISL) Prediction
Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC will lock horns as they play their first game of the tournament
Match Details:
- Jamshedpur FC vs Chennaiyin FC
- Venue: Tilak Maidan, Vasco Da Gama, Goa
- Date: 24th November 2020
- Kick Off Time: 7.30 pm India Time
Match Preview:
Tilak Maidan will be hosting a game for two teams who will be looking to kick off their ISL campaign with full swing.
Both the teams have a common link and that is the newly appointed coach of Jamshedpur FC, Owen Coyle, who saved Chennaiyin FC's season last year, by taking over mid-way, inspiring them to reach the finals.
They may have lost the last game but the coach's efforts were evident, earning Owen Coyle an opportunity to prove himself at Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur FC have not been one of the top teams in the competition and have failed to feature in the playoffs even once. Their latest season was perhaps their worst and that is why Coyle will have a lot of work to do.
On the other hand, the last season's finalists have their own concerns. They have basically gone through a reformation with five new foreigners introduced to the squad with the Hungarian, Csaba Laszlo as the new boss.
Head to Head:
The teams have faced each other on six occasions and the battle has not been one-sided until now. Jamshedpur have beaten Chennaiyin once while the two-time champions edge the battle with one more win alongwith the three draws.
Coyle will definitely have a plan in mind as he was unbeaten in the fixture last season, one ending in a draw while the other concluded as a 4-1 thrashing in his team's favor. This time it will be intriguing to see how he sets his new team against his former.
Players to watch out for:
For Jamshedpur FC, Nerijus Valskis will be against his former club and he is expected to execute the concocted plan according to Coyle.
The other ex-Chennaiyin player most likely to feature is Laldinliana Renthlei, the experienced full-back. Former Goa FC player Jackichand Singh is also associated with the club now, especially after his last two impressive seasons with his former club.
For Chennaiyin FC, Anirudh Thapa and Edwin Sydney Vanspaul will be some players to watch in the midfield while Reagan Singh is roped in as Laldinliana's replacement.
Prediction:
Both the teams have different pre-set standards considering their performances in the former years. However, with a new coach, Jamshedpur will look to emerge as winners but the experienced Chennaiyin FC will not back down too.
Sportco predicts Jamshedpur FC to win 2-1.
